Recently, our group embarked on a full-day sailing excursion in Santorini that took us along the island's rocky coastline and to two neighboring islands. The Sailing Sunset Tour provided a unique and unforgettable experience, with incredible coastal views, guided explorations, and a delicious dinner on board.
We began our adventure with a convenient hotel pickup and set sail towards the renowned Santorini volcano. Upon arrival at Nea Kameni, we paid a small entrance fee of 2.5€ per person and enjoyed a fascinating guided tour of the volcanic island. Our knowledgeable guide explained the history and geology of the volcano, enriching our experience during our 1.5-hour stay.
Next, we sailed to Palea Kameni, famous for its sulfur-rich hot springs. We anchored 30 meters from the shallow waters of Agios Nicholaos' beach and had the opportunity to swim in the therapeutic waters for 30 minutes. The mix of sulfur, iron, and other metals from the volcano proved beneficial for our skin and overall wellbeing. However, it's important to note that strong swimming skills are required to reach the beach.
Our journey continued as we sailed above underwater craters from Palia Kameni to Thirasia Island. We anchored near Thirasia and spent another 30 minutes swimming and enjoying the beautiful views of the island.
As the day drew to a close, our boat stopped near the stunning village of Oia, providing us with an unforgettable sunset experience. We watched the sun dip into the sea, casting warm, golden light over the Caldera and Oia. We were also treated to a delicious Greek dinner on board, accompanied by free wine, which further enhanced the magical atmosphere.
Throughout the tour, we enjoyed the use of foam pool noodles and towels provided by the crew. The boat was well-equipped and comfortable, making our journey even more enjoyable.
In conclusion, the Santorini Sailing Sunset Tour offered a perfect blend of adventure, relaxation, and natural beauty. This full-day excursion was truly a highlight of our Santorini vacation, and we highly recommend it to anyone looking to experience the island from a unique perspective.
