As a young couple with a shared love for wine, we embarked on a 4-hour Santorini Wine Roads Tour to explore the island's rich wine culture and picturesque landscapes. The tour exceeded our expectations, taking us to three family-owned wineries, each boasting unique architecture and delightful red and white wines.
Our knowledgeable guide, who also happened to be an expert sommelier, picked us up in a luxurious, air-conditioned minivan. Throughout the tour, we learned about Santorini's indigenous grapes, unique vine-growing methods, and the island's long history of winemaking.
At each winery, we were treated to tastings of a variety of wines, including some straight from the barrel, as well as local snacks that perfectly complemented our tastings. In total, we sampled 12 to 15 different wines, gaining a deeper appreciation for Santorini's diverse and flavorful offerings.
